Ever since I was a child my Granddad taught me about gardening and plants. This is where I started to gain a real passion for the great out doors. I spent most of my childhood helping in him with his vegetable allotment and formal cottage garden. After designing and creating my own home and garden my passion grew stronger for all things in this field.
I found a love for retail after working in shops and garden centres where I completed various retail and horticultural training. I Also enjoy crafts and designing and often do this in my spare time. I quickly realised that this is what I wanted to do. So on my 24th birthday I decided to take the leap and open my own high street shop. After all the input and guidance from my granddad its seamed fitting to name it after him; Leslie Terrance.
We first opened Leslie Terrance home, gift and garden in 2014 in the quaint little town of Wymondham. Our store was created by up cycling loads of vintage furniture and re-purposing ladders, wire reels and chairs. We had a selection of local crafters items in our 'craft corner' and a huge selection of home wares and gifts. We often held different events including, our Christmas wonderland open evenings, spiritual nights and kids fun days. We were known for our big bright floral displays outside the front of our shop and our wacky window displays.
Our Sprowston Road Store opened in 2017, It was our first step to the big city of Norwich. Everything in our shop was up cycled and made out of old timber and pallets, The shop was full from floor to ceiling with plants and had a real jungle vibe about it. We even had some resident budgies, After the first year at Sprowston road I opened a cafe bar too. We sold lots of home made cakes and our fully loaded hot chocolates became very popular with the locals!
Leslie Terrance Plant shop is now based on Magdalen road in Norwich. I managed to bag this amazing space with huge windows- which is perfect for the plants. Inside the shop we have built everything out of recycled wood and salvaged timber. The shop is the biggest one I've had yet and still packed from floor to ceiling with plants. We have an extra jungle feel with this shop and even built a tree house which you can walk on to see the plants from above. I will soon be opening the coffee bar in this store to and cant wait to enjoy having a nice iced coffee along side the plants with you.
